Save Upton's German Shepherds
Paul Upton's German Shepherd Dogs were confiscated from him in November 2015 and are being held by Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (IACC).
Upton's kennels have passed inspection for 30 years and never had a violation. It has been reported that the kennel passed its April 2015 inspection with an “excellent” rating and the city renewed its kennel license in May 2015.
These dogs are not simply cars sitting in an impound lot, awaiting a possibly lengthy court decision. These are living creatures, working dogs, who have been basically imprisoned and denied the daily training they are accustomed too, without their owner or the owner's regular veterinarian being allowed to see them.
It has been over 90 days that the dogs have been away from their home, and they were removed for no apparent reason. Two litters of puppies were born and several lost their lives while under the control of IACC. The surviving puppies are not being raised as was intended when they were bred. In addition, the owner is being required to pay over $6000 every month to IACC or FORFEIT his dogs? He has not been proven to do anything wrong!
According to a local news report, the director of IACC is the 12th director, in 12 or 13 years, hinting at an internal problem within IACC (http://www.theindychannel.com/.../iacc-director-placed-on... ). Remember, Upton's has passed inspection for 30 years in a row, with never a citation or violation, under many different animal control directors.
The new director, Wolsiffer, now finds conditions to be so poor that the animals are seized? The conditions in which the dogs are being kept at IACC are not even up to par with the kennels they were removed from.
